RFID Journal: RFID is ...

Intellareturn is an application integration specialist, forging new opportunities by integrating the benefits of different technologies like existing supply chain, customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other infrastructures behind today's leading organizations with radio-frequency identification (RFID). Together, these solutions allow companies to improve the way they interact with and service their customers.

Radio-frequency identification is evolving into a pervasive technology for package and parcel services, but to consider RFID a super-barcode considerably underplays the possibilities. Widespread adoption of RFID throughout various industries will allow organizations to enhance processes like tracking goods, reducing counterfeit products and supporting customer services to add convenience for consumers.

Around since the early 1920s, RFID was developed at MIT for robots to communicate and used extensively in World War II for tracking planes. Today, combined with other technological advancements, RFID can transform how companies operate and serve their customers. As with the adoption and proliferation of barcodes, computers and the Internet, every company will need to incorporate RFID to remain competitive in the global economy.

RFID Solutions from Intellareturn
The Company's RFID applications are technologically agnostic, capable of working within the full range of frequencies and standards. Therefore, Intellareturn is ready for next-generation RFID deployments by supporting the latest EPCglobal standards — as well as other RFID guidelines from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Department of Defense (DoD).

The trends in RFID technology utilize streaming event data to implement intelligent, real-time RFID applications. Streaming event data refers to the flow of data generated by an event, such as reading an RFID tag. Our warranty event-stream processing technology is an application database system designed to react to business events. Warranty event-stream processing software used in conjunction with RFID middleware systems — compliant with EPCglobal's emerging application-layer events (ALE) — is an example of a platform on which to process RFID data (where an "event" is reading the RFID tag).

Transformation and Results
Intellareturn is advancing a new class of courier shipping applications that lets users express warranty conditions that are important, being proactively notified to take supply chain automation action when those conditions are met with both active battery-powered tags and passive RFID stickers.

The Return ID Stamp® from Intellareturn is embedded with a unique RFID transponder. Associated with an authorization identifier provided to customers for returning items under seller's warranty terms, a label access application allows customers a convenient drop-off or pick-up process using courier shipping networks like FedEx, UPS or DHL.
